7 Products I Keep in my Make-up Bag

Corporate-Style-Story-Lob-Haircut

There is a definite strategy with the make-up I carry in my make-up bag. As someone who posts daily photos and videos of themselves on Instagram, Facebook and pretty much every other social media platform, I am often asked what make-up I use and what I wouldn’t leave home without.

The truth is, I usually do my make-up on the go. I tend to only put it on if I’m going to a meeting, a shoot or an event. If I’m not doing any of these things during the day and I’m at my laptop or doing the school run or travelling or even meeting friends and family, I intentionally spend the day without make-up, do a thorough skincare routine in the morning and let my skin breathe.

For those days when I want to feel more put together (and camera ready) I need my products to be effective, work for my skin and still look natural and fresh.

It’s no secret that I love my skincare and taking care of my skin has allowed me to rethink my make-up and not cover it so heavily, so these products are some of my favs.

#1 – Foundation

I am a huge fan of The Ordinary, I rave about their products on Instagram Stories and their Serum Foundation is quite honestly one of the best foundations I’ve used, it’s absolutely brilliant. The consistency isn’t like anything I’ve used or seen before, it has a very watery consistency due to the serum and for this reason I feel like my skin is getting such amazing hydration.

The colour match is great, I’m a Ordinary Serum Foundation in 2.1Y (£5.70) without a tan and a 3.0Y with (Y is for yellow undertone). I talked about this foundation in my podcast Not Wonder Woman on our updates to skincare and make-up for Fall – it’s definitely a cult product I’ve seen lots of beauty bloggers use it.

#2 – Concealer

I don’t know about you, but as a working mother of a child who doesn’t like to sleep through the night, if there’s one product I can’t do my make-up without, its under-eye concealer.

I use one concealer for under my eyes and another for any other areas on my face. I have tried so many concealers over the years and tend to swap between them depending on what my skin is doing.

Old faithful concealers I return to again and again are Kevyn Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX8 (£36) and for under my eyes and Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Caramel (£26) anywhere else that I need it.

#3 Powder

To set my base I use Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish. It’s such a lovely finish, it blurs pores, isn’t too matte, doesn’t change the colour of my foundation and absorbs excess oil – it finishes everything off nicely and keeps my make-up in place.

#4 – Bronzer

Bronzer, how I love you, you have a prominent place in my make-up bag. Bronzer gives my skin that healthy glow, more depth and dimension and my favourite at the moment is Fenty Beauty Sun Stalkr Instant Warmth Bronzer in Island Ting (£23). I wouldn’t be without it.

#5 Blusher

The Erborian Rouge Tint (£14) is exactly that, its such a light product to wear with the BEST staying power and makes cheeks look flushed without being OTT and really pulls my make-up together. I like my day-to-day make-up look to be dewy, fresh and natural and one of the easiest ways to do this is with a good blusher. The Erborian Rouge Tint is one of my favourite blushers (also a lip tint) and its always in my make-up bag.

#6 Mascara

I’m not one for false lashes and I don’t use an eyelash curler, so I expect a lot from my mascara! I haven’t had a particular affinity with one until I found this Lash Expert Twist Brush from ByTerry (£25). The wand has two settings, one for length and one for volume – almost like a day and night mode – love it. This is always in my make-up bag.

#7 Eyebrow Powder

This eyebrow palette is the OG of eyebrow make-up. The Body Shop have had this product in their collection for what seems like 100 years and it does the job. I use it sparingly to define and fill in any gaps and done. Depending how I’m feeling, I may go over the powder with an eyebrow gel if I am having a long day or going out after work.

Thanks so much for providing individuals with such a splendid chance to read critical reviews from this website. It’s usually so great and also full of a lot of fun for me and my office colleagues to visit your web site particularly 3 times a week to read the latest guides you have got. Of course, I’m also usually impressed considering the astonishing concepts you give. Selected two facts on this page are undoubtedly the most efficient we have ever had.
