The Column – Quarantine Week 6

How are you all  doing? Quarantine Week 6 has Summer unfolding rather differently to how we’d planned, isn’t it? Even so, I’m firmly holding onto the belief that there are still so many things to look forward to. Whilst things aren’t necessarily going the way I’d planned, they are still going (thank God), they’ll just look differently and I’m getting comfortable with that.

April saw me attend my grandmother’s social distancing funeral; “celebrate” my Dad’s birthday; “celebrate” two of my nieces’ birthday’s and this month will have us doing some sort of social distancing version of celebrating my Mum’s big birthday this year. I miss them all so much! We all miss our family and friends.

So this week saw me receive a lovely email from British Airways, telling me that as a result of COVID-19 our flights to Ibiza are likely to be cancelled and suggesting that I rebook. Rebook I shall! A friend reminded me that that’s how we should look at everything that we had planned this year not as cancelled, just simply postponed.

Hopefully the White Island will be welcoming me at some point this year…I could really do with letting my hair down!

It’s odd because I travelled so much last year and I did say that I didn’t want to travel quite so much this year because I had my focus on other things and now look…

I travelled to Lisbon, Amsterdam (twice), Dubai, Cape Town, Cyprus, New York and I think that’s about it. I still plan on squashing in all of the travels I had planned for this year. Hopefully. Until such times I will scroll through old holidays pics and swoon over hotels I want to visit.

Work-wise things are quite manic. You don’t realise until something like this how much people rely on technology to keep us connected.

In an earlier post I said that I was worried about vulnerable children during this time and so when we (the tech company I work for) moved super quickly to ensure that local councils had the technology they needed to safely keep in touch with vulnerable children who couldn’t gain access to their support networks due to social distancing, it was a moment that I was really proud to be in the tech industry.

Quarantine Life – Week 6

“I can do it myself” stage is in full effect, especially where the hair is concerned. I posted my natural curls on the grid this week and got lots of compliments on them. I’m going to try a few different products to help define and hydrate my curls and report back. Currently using a few different things but I’m missing my monthly trim.

Death by Zoom – A whopping 96% of people who voted in my poll said that they have had enough of video conferencing and this article proves it. I’m over it. Email me or, better yet, call me! It’s good to talk.

I have consistently posted on Instagram Stories about the importance of Vitamin D, but this article suggests that it could be extremely important than ever in the fight against COVID-19. I take a daily Vitamin D supplement alongside magnesium in a foot soak weekly. Both are here on Amazon.

So Poppy has proven herself to be a bit of a mathematical whizz, which is leaving me quite cold (I hate maths). As it’s something she’s interested in, I am going with it. We use these books and this website as well as things around the house to learn (for measuring etc.)

Yes, I’m killing plants left right and centre, and so this post on Instagram had you all laughing. In a bid to get better at caring for the plants I bring into my home, I bought this book from Amazon. Wish me luck!

I have actually bought quite a few coffee table books recently, they’re such a good way to add personality to your home with your interests clearly visible to guests. Have a look at this post for inspo, and this post for the guys. My fav coffee table book at the moment has to be this one. I love it and haven’t seen it anywhere before.

‘How She Does It’ – I have interviewed some of my fav working women on Instagram and for quarantine week 6, I have reached out to other professional working women I know for next week, if you want to be involved drop me a message here.

Labamotion is 1 year old – it was the first proper video I recorded with Poppy and was totally impromptu. I cannot help watching the video wondering how grown up she looks nowadays – all those teeth missing!

My favourite workout video of the week has to go to the beloved Rickey T, he is beyond funny…

To end on a high, I did my nails this week, I’ve managed to chip one with all the domestic chores(!) but I had quite a few questions so take a look at what I used.

Tonight, I plan on ordering a takeaway, drinking my new discovery of Nosecco, whilst my feet soak in this foot mask. I will meet up with friends at my friend Flex’s DJ set on Instagram Live and then possibly watch an episode or two of Gossip Girl on Netflix. This is currently my idea of Quarantine Friday bliss…

What are you up to? Hope you manage to take a moment to yourself this weekend…

I and also my buddies have been analyzing the best strategies from your website while instantly I had an awful suspicion I had not thanked the blog owner for those strategies. All of the ladies happened to be certainly passionate to learn them and already have absolutely been having fun with them. Appreciation for being really considerate and then for making a decision on such quality tips millions of individuals are really eager to know about. My honest regret for not expressing gratitude to you sooner.
